MAYOR HERMAN ACKMANN DEFEATED
BY A SPLIT OPPOSITION TICKET!
NORTONVILLE, KS (NS) - The unofficial results from City Hall are reported that Mayor Herman Ackmann was defeated in a close election. Dave Schneider, who served as a city councilman and mayor for over 20 years, was elected by a reported 14 vote margin.BY A SPLIT OPPOSITION TICKET!
The reported tallies for the mayoral office were: 88 votes, Dave Schneider; 74 votes, Herman Ackmann (I); 63 votes, City Councilman Edward "Pete" Scott. The upset was controversial by some in the town who noted that despite a split opposition enough votes were still cast to defeat Ackmann. Scott will be leaving his current council position when his term expires.
The contenders for the two city council positions and their tallies are: 139 votes, Roger Whaley (I); 103 votes, Troy Frost; 95 votes, Matt Smith; 51 votes, Mike Henning; 11 votes, Roy McCullough.
Incumbent Whaley reclaims the office for another term and Troy Frost will assume the vacant position left by Edward "Pete" Scott.
